I thought it was about time I put myself infront of the camera, and share a glimpse into my home life, I share with my husband and three children Maisie (12), Betsy (7), Albie (6) & baby due July..
I’m a hair and makeup artist from London living in Ibiza.
I set up Bohemian Bond after meeting so many inspiring women from all different walks of life choosing to work & raise their children in Ibiza. I wanted to share their stories and maybe inspire anyone thinking of making a move abroad to enhance family-work life balance.
➳ WHERE WAS HOME FOR YOU GROWING UP? AND WHERE DID IBIZA FIT IN?
I grew up in the UK but lived in Spain for a few years in my earlier childhood. I have a huge respect for my parents for “going for it” as I’m now doing the same with my kids. It must have been so much harder back then (I mean no Instagram! How did my mum know where to go? ha..) I admire them for moving to Spain to give me and my sisters some amazing childhood memories. I think that’s why I wanted to move with my kids to Ibiza to experience a different lifestyle and create some memories they will hopefully remember forever.
➳ HOW DO YOU BALANCE BEING A WORKING MUM ON THE ISLAND?
Like all mums it can be hard at times. I want it all and feel so much guilt if I miss out on things. Being a mum comes first over my career and I’m lucky my husband can be around so it gives me the flexibility I need to work and pursue my passion as a hair & makeup artist.
➳ WHAT IS THE MOST SPECIAL PART OF MOTHERHOOD FOR YOU?
The insane bond and love you feel, its just magic, hence why baby number four is on its way! Think I’m a bit addicted to these little people…
➳ DO YOU HAVE ANY FUN TRADITIONS YOU SHARE WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
I’m all about making memories and carrying on traditions that started in my childhood. My mum loves to celebrate the little things in life, so any day that can turn into a celebration does. I still receive a valentines card from my dad every year. Yes dad I finally know its you… Thank you! I love family time and try and sit down together to eat as a family every night, but with busy timetables its not always easy so weekends are precious.
➳ WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS WITH YOUR KIDS AND WHAT’S ON YOUR TRAVEL WISH LIST?
I love travelling to new places with my kids, its so nice to just get away from normal routine and enjoy each others company. Last year we took the ferry over to Formentera, a little island off Ibiza where we stayed in a bungalow right on the beach, it was super basic with no wifi so it was old school games for the weekend and it was one of my favourite holidays together. My travel wish list is currently so long we are planning on taking the kids out of school for one term next year and going on an adventure. Our eldest daughter will be 13 this year and I’m already panicking that I don’t have many summers left where she will want to be with us so I’m trying to make every year count.
➳ ANY HEALTH & BEAUTY TIPS YOU SWEAR BY?
Being a Hair and Makeup Artist I really do need to practice what I preach. I do believe its all about what you put into your body. There’s no point eating and drinking bad foods and expecting good results from a beauty product. It’s all about balance, mid week I’m pretty strict but the weekends anything goes. My beauty must haves are Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, Christophe Robin cleansing scrub & coconut oil.
➳ MOST INSPIRING READ?
I’m currently reading and loving Get Your Shit Together by Sarah Knight
➳ WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE ‘GO TO’ SPOT ON THE ISLAND…
AS A FAMILY?
We love visiting Atzaro where we got married. It’s filled with so many memories for us, of being surrounded with all our family and friends. I love that the kids were part of our wedding day.
➳ WITH YOUR HUSBAND?
With living away from family we don’t get out together in the evening as much we used to, so I drag him out for date day once a week, normally on a Friday before collecting the kids from school. We try and go somewhere different each week, Cala Bonita is one of my favourite spots to chill for the day.
➳ WITH YOUR GIRLFRIENDS?
I love a girls night out. Experimental for sunset cocktails & tapas. It’s my fave!
➳ BEST PART OF IBIZA LIVING?
The laid back lifestyle. We are surrounded by people that seem to get the balance right, living their lives everyday not solely focusing on careers and goals which I think can happen when living in a city, it becomes normal life.
I love watching my kids grow up on this island.
