When you’re on the school run and meet a beautiful blondie, wearing big shades, red lippy and you’re first convo involves Mac strobe cream, margarita’s and juggling three kids, you know you need her in your mum hub. Jenny let Bohemian Bond take over her adult only hotel (pre opening) to capture her hanging with son Caspar (8) and twin toddler girls Blake & Nico (3). And talks life living on the island.
➳ WHERE WAS HOME FOR YOU GROWING UP? AND WHERE DID IBIZA FIT IN?
I was born in Liverpool but brought up in Manchester. I was fortunate that we had many lovely holidays but I didn’t discover Ibiza until I was raving and misbehaving.
Nights like that are a rarity for me these days, as I can still party like a rockstar but can’t recover like one. Although I still love seeing young carefree people letting loose on the island. The school run is funny seeing some of the beautiful creatures of the night not wanting the night to end.
I ended up moving here for love. My husband is from the island & I’d live anywhere with him, lucky for me that’s Ibiza.
➳ HOW DO YOU BALANCE BEING A WORKING MUM ON THE ISLAND?
I help out in the family business and work sporadically in the UK so I have the luxury of working when it suits me and more importantly my children. I realise how lucky I am to have this. Now the girls are a little older, I’ll be working more.
➳ WHAT IS THE MOST SPECIAL PART OF MOTHERHOOD FOR YOU?
Our kids are just ridiculously amazing. They’re so full of love, totally adore each other and make me laugh out loud everyday. So the most special part of motherhood for me would just be the overpowering, crazy love I have for them…I’m in danger of squeezing them too hard and I probably kiss them far too much. Annoying mum.
➳ DO YOU HAVE ANY FUN TRADITIONS YOU SHARE WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
We have loads around the holidays, Christmas and Easter etc but on the last day of term if Caspars done well (which he has for the past 3 years) I pick him up from school in a dune buggy and we go on a mission somewhere…..One year, he had a birthday party straight after school, he went bonkers at the party and then fell asleep in the buggy on the way home. I looked mental buzzing down the motorway with him slumped in the front…I looked like I’d kidnapped him.
Not sure what I’ll do when the girls are old enough, they only fit 2 people.
➳ DO YOU HAVE ANY HEALTH & BEAUTY TIPS YOU SWEAR BY?
I love Pilates and walking our dogs but I’m also a great believer in everything in moderation. If my jeans are getting tight, I try to eat less and move more.
I also start the day with freshly squeezed lemon from the garden (my amazing husband does this for me…I grunt thank you) and a handful of bitter apricot kernels to help alkaline my body as I’ve got a terrible history of cancer in my family. My worst fear is not being here for my children.
And most importantly (joke) make up wise..I go through the most copious amount of MAC Strobe Cream, it makes me look fresh when I feel far from it…..I’m really not a morning person.
➳ WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ‘GO TO’ SPOT ON THE ISLAND…AS A FAMILY?
Cala Vadella is a great beach for kids and stunning too….whether you’re lunching in a nice restaurant in the daytime or plotted up on a blanket at night with takeaway pizza with the kids running riot…..heaven.
➳ WITH YOUR HUSBAND?
Oh anywhere, jump on his motorbike and be gone!! But we’d probably go for a snog at Heavens Door where we went there on our first date and fell in love and its also where he proposed to me. Then we’d head to Cala Carbo for a long, lazy lunch, followed by a cuddled up siesta on the beach.
➳ WITH YOUR GIRLFRIENDS?
When my best friends come to visit from the UK…we go on Lockdown. We don’t leave the house, its best that way. You’d think we were old enough to know better but we’re clearly not.
➳ WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS WITH YOUR KIDS AND WHAT’S ON YOUR TRAVEL WISH LIST?
We haven’t really travelled with the girls yet…I’ve got quite expensive tastes in holidays but can’t justify spending daft amounts of money to go on holiday to not relax and enjoy it, which we wouldn’t chasing twin toddlers around in opposite directions.
In the next couple of years we’ll get back on the holiday buzz and Thailand is on the agenda, as I spent a lot of time there and think the kids would love it. And I’d love to go diving with my husband in the Maldives.
Caspar wants to go back to Turks and Cacaos, we went there just before the girls entered the equation and he says he wants to take his sisters there…so who knows wheres next.
➳ WHAT IS YOUR MOST INSPIRING READ?
I love a good autobiography and I do believe in The Secret…..I cosmically ordered the life I’m living now and the perfect man I’m living it with. I don’t get much time to read these days, apart from The Daily Mail online obvs.
➳ WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF BEING YOUR OWN GIRL BOSS?
Its more of a necessity for me…I’m not good at being told what to do.
➳ THE BEST PART OF LIVING ON THE ISLAND FOR YOU?
I love to see my three beautiful creatures playing, laughing and running barefoot on the beach and if I get them all in bed on time on school nights in the summer months, I can get into bed, snuggle up to my gorgeous man and watch the sunset…bliss.
What a cool brood they are with a very special bond. Thank you Jenny, Vin, Caspar, Blake & Nico for letting us take over your hotel for the afternoon, especially the day before opening for the summer season. The hotel staff looked after us so well with plenty of margarita’s….
Behind the scenes… Tutu’s, fairy wands & watermelon breaks!
